This house was bought in 1947 by my parents.  They sold it in the 1990's. It was hard to see it go.  I have soooooooo many memories in this house. I remember when the tree in the front yard was so little, it didn't even shade the house.... look at it now........ I also remember dad remodeling each and every room in the house, so I saw this house bloom.  It just became too much upkeep for my dad.  It was on a hill, and as you can see the lawn was terrible to mow. Also there are 3 flights of stairs from the driveway to the house.... try shoveling snow in the winter..... it was not fun..... I know J

Some of the memories that come to mind:        (Christy/Kelly this is for you)
1. My dad remodeled every room in the house by himself.
2. When he remodeled one bedroom, he told us to stay out of the closet as the floor was only sheet rock. Well us kids were playing hide and go seek, and I wanted to win, so guess where I went to hide... in the closet.  Well I fell through the floor and landed on my stomach in the living room. My mom chased me and I was scared to death cause I thought... boy am I going to get heck.... she was only trying to see if I was okay.
3.  I shared my bedroom with my sister Linda.  This room was off the attic and to this day I am scared of the boogy man. I had to check under the bed and check that the attic door was locked every night.
4.  We had an old fashioned tub, with the claw feet, and it wasn't until I was married that dad put in a shower.  To this day, I do not like to take a bath - only a shower.
5.  I was the baby-sitter of my siblings as I was 5 years older than my sister and when my parents would go to play cards.... (heeeeeeeeeeeeee) I would set up a net in the living room and we would play volley ball... my parents never knew (I bet they know now).
6.  At Christmas time, my sister and I would look out the window and sing carols to each other as it snowed.
7.  Dad allowed us to build a hut behind the house. And boy did we, roof and all.  My dad worked in town and one day (while at lunch) he looked up at the house and he thought his house was on fire.  He drove home only to see fire trucks and "our" hut burning down.  My brother accidentally knocked over a candle and started the fire.... no damage other than our hut.
8.  We had a swing set in the back that we loved to use.  We also had a big cherry tree that we climbed and it became our "airplane" to where ever we wanted to go.  Oh the places we went and the things we saw.
9.  We loved going under the hose especially on those hot humid New England days.
10.  Dad had a real nice grape-vine and we used to pick them and spit them out at each other (oh no the truth comes out).
11. Dad had an old truck (unregistered) just sitting in the yard and we would drive that truck everywhere in our imaginations.
12. I loved playing marbles in the drive-way. I would argue a lot with my dad over getting more marbles.
Coarse I mostly played the boys, and I was determined to win.... maybe that is why today I have a very
competitive attitude.... especially when I used to play racquetball and squash.... I miss that.....
13. The downstairs was such that you could run through the kitchen, living room and dining room and keep going and going.... my mom chased me a few.
14. We had some marvelous Thanksgivings here.
15. I got poison ivy a lot as my dad was always trying to burn it, spray it etc. etc...... but when I played cowboy and indians.... I would just forget about where the poison ivy was... and off to the doctor for shots I went.
16. There was an old unworkable chimney in the house and I noticed there was a cover over one of the flues.  Well I had about 4 baby kittens and I put them in there not knowing that a flue also goes down the chimney........ well when I came back to get the kittens they were gone...... dad and I went in the basement and we could hear them crying.  Dad tore the chimney apart that day, so I could get my kittens.
17.  At bedtime, I don't know what it was, but us kids always had to giggle and whisper before we went to bed.  Well dad would tell us quite a few times that if we didn't be quiet and go to sleep he would come up and spank us........we got many spankings for laughing........ oh well.
WHAT WONDERFUL MARVELOUS MEMORIES

I guess I could go on and on but that is what comes directly to mind.... I miss that house in Amesbury, Mass.  However, when I visit my parents, occasionally I ride by it so I can get a big smile on my face.
