The Animals Around Us

Our Pets

How about  Sugar, for openers?  A German Shorthair Pointer, Sugar was born in California in November 1996, and at eight weeks flew east to New Hampshire in the lap of her new owner. At Boston's Logan Airport she was greeted by the North-East's below-zero cold and an icy wind.  Is that any way to treat a lady who just left her Mum, Christa, in the San Fernando Valley?  By the end of her first NH winter she'd taught herself to sled down ten foot snow drifts on the stub of her tail.

Then there's Billy the Kit, who grew up to be Billy the Cat, or Billy-Bob as he prefers.  He's about the same age as his pal Sugar, but is much more sedate, most of the time.  Occasionally Billy initiates a frantic chase around the house, the limit of his universe.  Sugar gets blamed for the ruckus.  Otherwise Billy sleeps where he chooses, and often sits in the summer on the screen porch  and watches Sugar traverse the yard and the woods beyond.  Billy's a house cat.  He and Sugar share it, and retain the owners to manage the facility.
