A Poem
Families
gather on this
day.
They
come together, give thanks
and pray.
The Lord
has blessed in ways
untold.
We see
his Grace, his bounty
unfold.
The richness
of a pumpkin pie.
The harvest
moon up in the
sky.
The Aunts,
the Uncles and
little
ones too.
Grandma's
mincemeat.......
Grandpa's
"Brew"
The turkey's
brown, juicy and
tender.
Let us
never forget.....
Who gives
us this splendor.

Turkey Twister
Say this tongue twister five
times fast: "Peter Pilgrim picked pretty plump pumpkins in the pumpkin
patch."
Pass the Wishbone
Each person makes a wish
out loud as he is passed the turkey wishbone.
Pilgrims Choice
Pretend you are a Pilgrim
setting off to the New World. You may bring only a few possessions; say
what items you would bring and why.
Keepsakes
Using a light-colored tablecloth and fabric pens, have each guest write
a brief note of
gratitude. Bring out the
same tablecloth each year, adding new tidings of thankfulness.
My favorite cranberry sauce at
Thanksgiving:
1 can whole berry cranberry
sauce
1 apple sliced and
cut into small pieces (each slice 3 pieces)
1/2 orange sectioned
and peeled (break into 3 pieces)
1/4 - 1/2 cup chopped
walnuts
Mix the night before
and refrigerate. Very good and a nice addition to the standard cranberry
sauce.
A Recipe from Yankee Magazine
(I may try this one - looks good)
Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking
soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose
flour
1/2 pint sour cream
1 teaspoon almond
flavoring
1 8-ounce can whole
cranberry sauce
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Cream margarine and sugar.
Add unbeaten eggs. Mix together dry ingredients; add dry ingredients alternately
with sour cream. Add flavoring. Grease an 8-inch bundt pan, then scatter
a layer of cranberries (1/3 of can). Swirl with a knife. Repeat batter,
cranberries, swirl batter, then remaining cranberries on top. Swirl and
cover with nuts. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 50 to 55 minutes. Cool
5 minutes before removing from pan.
Topping:
3/4 cup confectioners'
sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond
flavoring
Add warm water so
topping will drizzle from spoon. Pour over warm cake.
I would add a little
grated orange peel to topping and change almond to orange in recipe.
.
I hope that you have a marvelous Thanksgiving.
