Characters may be created using any dice rolling method presented in the Player's Handbook, though I prefer 4d6 drop the lowest roll and place to taste.

Non-standarad races must be approved prior to play, and will without a doubt be subject to social and racial biases for being "abnormal". (Note: I define biases as: mistreatment, being run out of towns and cities, stoned, attacked by guards and individuals, etc.)

Players may, pending DM approval, use character kits to further expend their characters.

Netbook classes are NOT allowed.

Characters cannot start with Magic Items.

Starting characters are allowed to start at any level up to 4. Multi-classed characters may start with enough experience to be level 3 in their most expensive class if they have 2 classes, or enough experience to be level 2 in their most expensive class if they have 3 classes.

Proficiencies chosen must be realistic.  If you choose something unrealistic, you better have a good character history to backup why you know that particular skill. For example somebody who chooses to speak the Common Tounge of Evil Dragons better have a REALLY GOOD reason why they can speak it, and an even better reason why one of the rarest creatures in the world let them live with the knowledge.

Starting money is determined by rolling starting funds from the Players Handbook and multiplying that total by your highest level.

Your character MUST have a basic character background in place prior to starting the campaign, though it does not have to be complete.
Please try to refrain from using the typical backgrounds of:  My homeland was destroyed by (insert lowly monster hoarde), and now I wander the lands seeking adventure.
Silly backgrounds are equally shunned, such as:  My family died when I was 1 year old, and the family of barn cats we had raised me as one of their own, and trained me in the arts of stealth and assassination and using mice as bolas.
