However in their haste to kill off the party the heroes discover that a scheme larger than they imagined was occuring. Searching for bodies in the woods they discover a goblin scout party. Killing off all but one of their members, the party followed the last goblin back to its war camp.
Partial Party: Tollers, Tristan, Brigid
Overview: With the discovery of the Goblin war camp the heroes make haste
back to the village of Grovewood to warn of the impending invasion, and to make plans to
defend the village.
Information Discovered: After a long and horrific battle the party emerges victorious though at a heavy cost. The Dopplegangers managed to escape with the villagers that escaped to Fellan, the village's defensive walls were totally destroyed on one side, several buildings were burned down, and many villager lives were lost.
Important Item Discovered: The party discovered a series of notes which detailed correspondence between the goblin leader and his contact. Unfortunately these notes were lost to the party after being captured by the Jagged Bones tribe near Soldran. The notes hinted at an assassin heading south to assassinate a temple.
Partial Party: Tollers, Tristan, Brigid, Mithramir
Overview: Upon arriving at the town of Fellan, the party met up with a
priest of Arcania trying to solve a series of thefts within the town walls.
Information Discovered: In their investigations the party discovered that a local general store, herbalist, and very wealthy woman were robbed of valuables. From the general store: Rope, Flarestone, and some traveling equipment were stolen. From the herbalist: A rare drake either Pendrake, Moondrake, or Mandrake was stolen from the herbalist. From the woman was stolen a valuable ring. At each location was found a wooden nickel with the letter "A" on one side, and a symbol on the other.
Important Items Discovered: 3 Wooden Nickels
Partial Party: Tollers, Brigid, Mithramir, Marr, Swifthawk, Sentagur,
Jaden
Overview: When the party arrived at the city of Soldran they found that
the city had resently come under the effects of a horrible plague. Without fear of
death, the party entered into the city in search of the assassin... suspecting his work.
Information Discovered: The party met a local blacksmith's son by the
name of Jaden. He told the party that none of his family were getting sick, however
that they also had their own well instead of the city fountain. The party soon
discovered that it was not the plague that affected the city, but poisoning disguised as
an illness.
The party while warning the temples of the poisoning came across 3 thugs attacking a
mercenary in the alleys of the city. The heroes came to the mercenary's rescue
killing the thieves in the process. The mercenary left without a word leaving the
party to deal with the bodies. They brought the bodies to the temple of Arcania
seeking medical attention for their own wounds. As they returned to take care of the
bodies of the thieves they were attacked by the assassin who turned out to be the
mercenary they saved before.
Using magic the party captured the assassin and questioned him at length about his mission
with very little answers, until careless threats broke the spell upon the assassin and he
escaped.
They then met a man by the name of Dalton Lake, interested by their heroic acts and
wishing to journey with them for a time. Unknown to the heroes though, he was in
league with the assassin known as Arnak and was plotting an attack of his own on a lady
who appeared the previous day before in the temple of Arcania. The lady was in her
mid to late fifties with pure white hair kept hidden under a cloak and robe of beached
white. She possessed curative magics never before seen by the priests of the temple,
as she healed beds full of wounded.and sick people.
Using the aid of nature, the party was lead to the hiding spot of the assassin Arnak and
Dalton Lake. Spliting up, the party managed to kill Arnak, though the man known as
Dalton Lake escaped capture.
Important Items: The party discovered the assassin had various bottles of greenish / yellow liquid in his backpack, as well as poisoned arrows, rope, travel equipment, and wooden nickels. The backpack was however lost when the party was captured by the Jagged Bones tribe outside of Soldran, though the assassin's sword was recovered by an elven woman named Cercie.
Party: Squee, Zugg Zugg, Tolee, and Lugg
Overview: Squee, Zugg Zugg, Tolee, and Lugg were sent by the leader of
the Jagged Bones tribe to get food for their starving tribe. Apparently an old man
had taken up residence in the woods and was turning all of the game animals into undead
monsters, thus scaring off most of the good game meat remaining to hunt in the winter.
Background Information: The goblins snuck into the camp of Farmer Joe in order to steal his prized milking cow Betsy, which would supply the goblin camp with much needed food. As they attacked they made their presence known to the farmer who attacked the goblins with his trusty dogs. The goblins could not manage to escape with the cow, instead maiming the poor thing to near death, when...
Partial Party: Tollers, Tristan, Mithramir, Marr, Sklyla, Swifthawk,
Sentagur, Jaden
Overview: Investigating a recent rash of strange animal attacks in the
farmlands east of Soldran, on order of the city council, the party came across a farm
being attacked by 4 goblins.
Information Discovered: The goblins no match for the band of
heroes, the farmer, and his dogs, were slaughtered by the adventurers, only Squee managing
to escape to warn his tribe of the vile killers. The party gave pursuit only to be
attacked by a small pack of undead rodents. Dispatching with the creatures of
undeath the party made their way deeper into the woods, only to be attacked once more by
undead animals. Taking minor wounds from the battle, the party decided to journey
deeper into the wood where they discovered a goblin named Neeg.
Neeg was the friend of a man called the Woodwatcher. He informed the party that an
old man had taken up residence within the forest and was bringing the dead animals to
life. The party decided that the old man was more important than the goblins and
turned back to find him.
On their return trip they were again attacked and nearly slain before killing the old man
who brought this suffering upon the woodlands. They returned to the farm of Farmer
Joe to rest up before they decided what to do next.
Important Notes: The old man's camp was not found.
Partial Party: Tollers, Tristan, Marr, Sklyla, Sentagur, Swifthawk,
Jaden
Overview: The goblins angered over the death of their brethren (and
the DM mad that his players are fooling around in the middle of the game) decide to exact
revenge againist the people who killed their fellow goblins. The goblins in a large
war party attack the party offguard at the farm of Farmer Joe.
Information Discovered: The party no match for the goblin
warriors were either captured by the goblins or nearly killed by the goblins, had their
wounds bound, then gagged and bound if they used magic. The goblins took their
captives back to their camp where they planned on holding a trial on the party just before
sunrise. The part of the party in a bold escape move managed to break out of
the cage that was holding them, Marr and Jaden fleeing for help while Tollers attempted to
rescue his friends. In doing so the party unknowingly admitted their guilt to the
tribe as the goblins gave chase to the fleeing party members as Tollers was recaptured.
Cercie another captive mistaken by the tribe as a member of the party came up with the
second escape plan. She challenged the leader to single combat, and cheated using
magic to cause a confusion in the camp while she attempted to free the rest of the party.
The party began to fled when the Witch Doctor of the tribe used his magic on Sentagur
causing him to capture Sklyla. The rest of the party watched helplessly as the
Sentagur held Sklyla fast until 2 globes of magic flew through the air and struck the
witch doctor dead. Sklyla fled as Cercie grabbed her to hide as Sentagur picked up a
rusty sword from the ground to face the charging goblins.
Sentagur unarmored quickly fell to the goblin onslaught as they turned to move on to
Sklyla who gave away her hiding spot screaming for her fallen friend. Sklyla
untrained in the skills of combat and unarmed quickly fell to their attacks. Cercie
returning to the camp to save the too, found herself too late to save Sentagur who was
already claimed by death. By the grace of the gods she luckily arrived in time to save
Sklyla.
The party soon after escaped back to the farmer's home where they rested the night before
racing off to Soldran to get healing for Sklyla.
Important Information Lost: Goblin Notes from Adventure 3, wooden nickels from Adventure 4, assassin's gear from Adventure 5
Partial Party: Tollers, Tristan, Mithramir, Marr, Sklyla, Swifthawk,
Gertanes, Jaden
Overview: On their return to Soldran the party was summoned to the
chambers of the City Council once again. There they were found innocent of the
murder of a pack of thieves they killed in the city earlier (In Adventure 5). They
were introduced to a Royal Messager who came to the city to invite the party to Castle
Isingbal on the Day of the Dragon to receive honors from the king for their services to
the kingdom.
Information Discovered: The party torn between seeking revenge
againist the goblins or heading to Castle Isingbal, decided to sulk around the temple of
Arcania instead. At that time the bold goblins decided to head to the city to demand
that they give up the party to them so they could avenge the deaths of their slain
comrades.
After a bloody battle caused by a book mage named Myelin casting a spell on the leader,
nearly all of the goblins were slain, with the Watchers Mercenary Guild taking minor
loses. A small detactment of the party and mercenaries chased after the fleeing
goblins in hopes of finishing them off. The goblins however much futher ahead of the
pursuing group reached the woods first and sent a volley of arrows down on the undefended
group of pursuers.
Taking heavy damage they attempted to withdraw except Swifthawk who tried to sneak across
the field to the woods to attack by stealth. He found that his skills were lacking
in open terrain and was promptly brought down by arrows. Gertanes one of the
mercenaries attempted to save him by taking him into the woods and hiding him while he
setup an ambush.
The goblins however were not stupid and seeing that Swifthawk was not to be found promptly
found him and executed him for the death of their comrades.
After the unfortunate murder the party regrouped and decided to go to the castle before
the new year arrived, and set off towards the castle. The journey was cold and
unfriendly, only the forests providing comfort from the snow and bitter cold of the
winter. Near the end of their journey though they found a set of boot tracks.
The tracks belonged to the woman dressed all in white that they had first met at the
temple of Arcania (Adventure 5). She introduced herself as Katherine, a follower of
the old ways. She lent her cloak to Sklyla, who was suffering most from the bitter cold,
and told the party that she was on her way to the castle herself, but could not travel
with the party for their own safety.
After 2 more days of travel they finally arrived at Castle Isingbal. The party was
given lavish accomediations in the Silver Dragon inn, were they spent the next week
training and practicing new skills and attending the king's Dragon Ball.
On the day of the ceremony, the party was presented before the king and also a few
unlikely guests: Agris Veldar, the High Priestess of the Guardians; Zarrac Tarrell,
Tristan's mentor and the former king's advisor; Tristan's mother and father; and Brother
Garess of the temple of Sol. Tristan, Mithramir, Marr, and Swifthawk's brother were
presented rings for heroism involved with the rescue of Soldran or Grovewood, and Tollers
was knighted for his involvement with the rescue of both holdings of the king.
After the ceremony the party was presented before the people where the trouble began.
An assassin had disabled the guards on top of one of the towers and had taken
position for an assassination attempt on the king, when Katherine came running around the
courtyard with 3 priests of Mendelth right behind her in attempts to kill her. She
shouted warnings to those assembled on the balcony, but it was too late. The
assassin fired his first arrow striking the king in the chest before Tollers could push
him out of the arrow's path. The party attempted to capture the assassin but it was
too late. The assassin had already escaped. After a brief battle with
Katherine's attackers she graciously ressurrected the King from death, a feat which
demonstrated how powerful she really was.
The party tired returned to the Silver Dragon Inn where they found a crowd of guards and
Agris gathered in the inn. Sklyla had been kidnapped by a bounty hunter.
Important Information Discovered: The Halfling's Journal with information about "The One", Katherine's powers of regeneration and ressurrection, and her ties to the religion of Aslynn.
Present Party: Tollers, Marr, Mithramir
Overview: In the middle of asking the innkeeper questions about their
kidnapped friend, Tollers, Marr, and Mithramir find themselves suddenly themselves in the
middle of a serious combat between a group of humans and elves, and a group of gnolls.
Information Discovered: Immediately the 3 adventurers were engaged by the gnoll attackers as magic flared from unknown sources from behind the heroes at other gnolls. Caught off guard, the party attempted to mount a defense against the attack. The combat lasted several minutes, with the 3 taking serious injury from the gnolls weapons, but finally the gnolls were defeated. The wizard who accidentally summoned them apologized profusely for the accidental summons, and explained that they were summoned to help defend Ravenna's resistance from yet another attack by the nation of Targ. In compensation for their aid, he gave them a small jewel tipped wand as payment for their services just before the spell ended and the party was wisked away back to the inn.
Important Items: A wand of magic missiles.
Partial Party: Tollers, Tristan, Mithramir, Kotetsu, Schantall,
Knipper Bodwin Glibler Fonder Nargendelsher, Delvin Prophett
Overview: With Sklyla kidnapped, the party heroically decides to give chase
across the snow swept plains in search of their friend. Nature unfortunately apposes
their heroism.
Information Discovered: While asking the innkeeper questions about the
bounty hunter; Tristan, Tollers, and Marr mysteriously disappeared, only to reappear 15
minutes later. The party did not seem as concerned as they should have, especially
since they returned wounded and appeared to have been in a battle. While explaining
what happened a gnome entered the inn and began listening. The gnome introduced
himself as Knipper Bodwin Glibler Fonder Nargendelsher. He forcefully weeded his way
into the party despite any attempts to the contrary.
Meanwhile Marr was playing with the wand that Tollers received from the mage in Ravenna
when he figured out its command word and shot a pair of magic missiles into the ceiling.
This attracted to the inn an elven woman named Kotetsu, who was also looking for
adventure at the time and found it by luck of Marr's distrubance.
The party now had to decide where they were going to go look for Sklyla having only a
basic description of the bounty hunter, and the knowledge that he was taking her home...
wherever that was. Marr decided that he was going to go north to Ravenna by boat,
while the rest of the party decided to go south into the elven lands. Parting ways
the group bid Marr well, and began their journey south to the elven lands.
The first 2 days were slow going, a massive blizzard had managed to roll in blanketing the
land with snow. Movement slowed to a snail's pace, as the first night approached the
party made camp. In the middle of the night however cries of alarm arose from the
distance. A pair of green leathery skinned trolls and a large muscular ogre were
attacking 2 travellers. After a furious battle in which the party was severely
loosing to the superior might of the attackers Katherine appeared to save the day.
She erected a barrier of spinning blades which trapped the three attackers while the party
escaped. Then when she lowered the barrier the trolls ran off as the party ran in to
finish off the ogre. After the ogre was dead, the 2 travellers introduced themselves
as Schantall and Delvin Prophett. The party allowed them to travel with them to the
city of Tellon Northshire for safety in numbers as Katherine left the same evening.
The next day the party found remains of the bounty hunter's camp and a trail of 2 people
leading away from the campsite. They followed the set of tracks hoping to find the
bounty hunter, but a third set of tracks began to follow the original two and soon the
party found out why. Lying in the snow was the body of the bounty hunter they were
looking for. He had a brutal piercing wound in his back, and his body did not appear
to be looted for anything, so the party picked him clean and left him to rot in the snow
and continued the chase after Sklyla.
They chased him for the rest of the day and found him in the middle of the night.
The snow continued to fall as the Ocolet Suess first discovered the bounty hunter.
Knipper screamed a war cry and began to throw his darts at his enemy, the bounty hunter
returning the attack with a barrage of magic. The first attack proved nearly fatal
for the gnome as Delvon, Kotetsu, and Schantall moved to the front lines to begin their
attacks. The bounty hunter managed to use magic which prevented magic missiles from
striking him, as Schantall's magic failed to reach their mark. The bounty hunter
returned the mage's attack with jets of flame from his fingertips which engulfed Schantall
and blinded everybody with infravision. Schantall went to the ground burning in
flames as Mithramir finished casting his spell, summoning a ball of fire from his finger
tips. He blindly threw the ball at where the bounty hunter was last, hitting Kotetsu
instead. In the next moment of combat that passed Tollers, who could now see because
of the flaming players, charged forth on the bounty hunter attempting to cut him down, but
hit the magic barrier protecting him instead. Knipper responding with a spell,
somehow managed to scare the bounty hunter off, recovering a nearly dead Sklyla from his
possession, almost at the cost of Schantall's life.
The party rushed to Tellon Northshire where they got rooms and could arrange for care for
their wounded.
Important Items Discovered: A black oak box with ivory card like stones inside.
Party: Tollers, Tristan, Mithramir, Kotetsu, Schantall, Spark, Marr,
Jaden, Tyrin, Dargueth, Galstaff, Knipper
Overview: After their arrival in the city of Tellon Northshire, the party
was arrested for attempted murder of the bounty hunter they attacked earlier that day.
Information Discovered: Arriving at the "Mage's Inn"
the party was greeted by the innkeeper, a young woman who seems to be the only caretaker
of this little inn. They party tended to the comforts of the wounded while Agris
Veldar (a guardian who accompanied the party in adventure 8) went to get medical
assistance from the temple of Arcania. After she returned and had Schantall healed up, the
party was assaulted by 3 guards and the bounty hunter. The captain of the guard, a
man named Garintol had them placed under arrest for the attempted murder of an agent of
the elven court. Some members attempted to resist as an ogre entered the city in
attempts to trade. Garintol left to deal with the ogre leaving the other 2 guards
(Sven and Stefan) and the bounty hunter (Volder Nightshade) to deal with the arrest of the
party.
After being arrested the party was taken to the prison, where they were stripped of their
belongings and given white robes to wear. They were then chained to the wall with a
man named Galstaff who stole a gem from a gem merchant. After repeatingly talking
when they shouldn't have been Kotetsu and Galstaff were abused and beaten by one of the
guards who had bad experiences with thieves in the past.
The next day they were brought before the court and tried for their crimes which by that
time totalled 7 unique ones. Of the punishments dealt out, Kotetsu and Schantall
were whipped 10 times, Galstaff's hand was removed, Knipper was hung by the neck for
attempted murder, and the rest of the party were given community service for unknowingly
assisting Knipper's attempted murder attempt.
Once back at the inn, Tollers attempted to heal Kotetsu's wounds, but found that his
healing abilities were lost to him. Forced to wait out the week in rest, the party
did so, returning to the courthouse at the end. There they were informed that their
punishment would be to hunt down the Black Sun, a bandit who has been stealing from the
King's Tax caravans, and bring the Black Sun to justice. The party was further
informed that they would be allowed to accompany a tax caravan that would be leaving in 1
week's time.
Important Information: The party may have to return to Tellon Northshire because of lack of information in the crime of: Harboring of a murderer. Tollers has lost the ability to Lay on Hands. Agris has not been seen since the trial.
Party: Tollers, Tristan, Brigid, Kotetsu, Schantall, Marr, Jaden,
Tyrin, Dargueth, Galstaff, Jetter
Overview: Leaving the city of Tellon Northshire, the party met up
with one of the 2 trolls that had hounded them earlier that month, then met up with the
Black Sun, whom they captured, then met up with a traveller named Jetter.
Information: Leaving the city of Tellon Northshire, the party met up with one of the 2 trolls that had hounded them earlier that month. After a short battle the troll laid dead at the edge of their camp... or so they thought. After resuming watches they soon were to learn a terrible lesson: Trolls Regenerate, and after they finish regenerating, you can safely assume that they are going to be MAD! In fact their "dead" troll was very angry that it took him over an hour to regenerate the beating he received, and attempted to make off with one of the party members as his dinner for the evening. After a furious battle which nearly wiped out 4 members of the 10 member party, the troll was defeated and burned by one of the guardsmen, who turned out to be Agris in disguise.
The next day the party pressed on dispite their injuries, and by the end of that day fifteen minutes after entering the forest, they were waylaid by the Black Sun. The Black Sun attempted to draw out one of the party members into honorable combat in the name of the people, but the party was not willing to be honorable, with the exception of Galstaff who didn't seem to know entirely what was going on.
After a long time of intense words, Tristan finally broke the talk by casting a spell and erupting the entire exchange into combat. The Black Sun, though highly trained, was no match for the party's numbers, and was eventually overwelmed, instead of killed, after Galstaff whacked the Black Sun's horse in the leg with his staff, throwing its rider off and to the vulnerability of the ground. The party quickly pig piled on top of the Black Sun, and pulled off the bandit's helmet revealing the Black Sun's identity as none other than the eldest princess: Sarella Karnath.
The party then faced a hard set of choices: they could let her go, and face the full effects of their quest spells; turn her in forcefully and humiliate her and the royal family, and hope they don't bring about her death for treason; or they could quietly bring her to justice and hope they don't bring about her death. They couldn't decide, and slept on it.
The party began travels again on the next day, encountering a lone traveller in the road being harrassed by 10 thugs. Tyrin bravely rode out to the rescue with the eventual aid of Tristan, while the rest of the party hung back with the caravan. Luckily, the thugs didn't want any trouble and quickly fled, leaving the traveller in the middle of the road. The traveller thanked them profusely and introduced himself as Jetter, a man hoping to join the ranks of the military in Isingbal. The party accepted him into their travelling party, but was careful not to talk about their royal guest.
Come evening they encountered no more strange happenings except for a hanging which they pretty much ignored. During the evening meal, they finally offered their prisoner some food and water, and she received some mocking because of her station in life, and becoming a prisoner.
The next day they finally arrived at the castle, where they were promptly rioted by the people of the castle, and pelted with rotten food and rocks. After escaping, they were quickly received by the king himself, and the party was completely rude (except Tollers) to the king. Despite their rudeness, they were given accommodations in the castle, and were well cared for.
Important Information: The infamous Black Sun was none other than the eldest Princess Sarella.
