Day 2: Miner's Rest
An unusual holiday which originated a few years ago and is picking up
mixed popularity is that of Miner's Rest. Miner's Rest is considered the historical
day that Kronos laid down his forge hammer for a day, rested, and drank fine dwarven ale
until he got tanked and made halflings. While sages and scholars continue to
research and debate the actual day of the creation of halflings, which are popularly
believed to have been created from the essence of dwarf, most traditional dwarven elders
speculate that a human minstrel made up the day, in order to get free drinks at a dwarven
ale house.
Today some dwarves celebrate the day by laying down their hammers, picks, and tools,
going down to the alehouses, and drinking to excess.
Day 40: Tears of Aslynn's Fall
This day memorializes the elven calendar day Aslynn was said to have
been slain. No countries, or races officially mark this as a holiday, however some
individuals and groups hold memorials to the fallen goddess in respect.
Day 60: Dance of the Snow Imps
An unusual tradition of the gnomes of Nos is the Dance of the Snow
Imps. On this day, the gnomes of the village gather together in song, dance, and
magic in the village center, and celebrate life, love, and achievements. Origins of
this day lead back to the days of Tharl Bumplefoot, who tricked a pair of imps into
dancing in the snow, while he ran away, from their evil master. Later, the imps
caught up with Tharl Bumplefoot in the newly formed village and tricked him into dancing
with the ugliest gnomish woman in the entire village, which he later married to their
surprise.
