Verse 15
We landed on shore shortly. The sandy ground was covered with strange scaly trees that only leafed at their tops as well as strange 4 toed webbed feet tracks scattered in the sand. Binkley immediately began tracking the strange webbed feet as Aalaysia took off to the woods, presumably to scout out the terrain ahead. The forest was thick and full of small stinging bugs, unlike the sandy beach we left behind. It took us no more than 5 minutes before we found something interesting. Nestled not too far within the forest we found a small little village. It's inhabitants were human sized with pale green skin, and they smelled of that nasty stuff Binkley called fish, although this fish smelled even worse. We carefully approached the village, hiding within the brush and trees and drew closer to the camp.
Within the village were 20 of the webbed foot things walking around doing various things. We also noticed a small hole near the outskirts, where within we heard pained whimpering of someone. One of the creatures mumbled something in its husky voice and the prisoner stopped whimpering for a moment. Creeping closer still, almost out of the safety of the forest, we noticed that the prisoner was indeed humanoid. Of course being the "saints" that we are, we desided to save him or her from the fate that probably awaited him or her at lunch time.
We took quite a bit coming up with a plan that would be suitable for our tastes at least. I was to get the prisoner while Binkley distracted them on the other side of the village, while Cerrannor provided me cover incase something went wrong, which of course it did. Giving Cerrannor my pack I awaited Binkley's distraction which soon came in the form of him boldly swinging his sword around while screaming his lungs off. While the creatures were distracted I made my move. I scrambled across the dirt towards the hole and tossed my rope in. The halfling within the pit seemed disoriented and confused as I tossed him the rope, and by the time he began to climb out, we were discovered by the green skinned creatures and were force to flee like hell. Cerrannor grabbed the halfling and started running with him, as I trailed them and Binkley ran off with a hoard of 12 of the things giving him chase. We ran along the trail with 6 of the creatures in pursuit. While they were giving chase, the halfling stumbled and fell exhausted from his ordeal in the pit. Seeing this Cerrannor struggled to grab him and began to run again, as I turned to face our pursuers to give them enough time to run.
I gave away one of my secrets at that point, which if I survive this ordeal, I'm sure I'll be asked about it. I began my defense by casting the spell which created 3 copies of myself, which disoriented them and confused them. I then rattled off another spell which simulated the sounds of a small army of gnomes. This scared them and confused them more. Finally before I ran as well I altered my appearance to make myself look like them. I then took off like a little bolt of lightning towards the outrigger waiting for us on shore. Cerrannor, the halfling, and Binkley were already aboard as I entered the clearing still looking like the creatures. The 12 creatures that were following him were also on the beach and my friends had no choice but to escape to the sea and leave me and Aalaysia behind on the shore. Now I'm diving for some brush so when these spells fail, I hopefully will be hidden enough that they cannot find me. Hopefully I'll live long enough to place this within the pages of my journal.
