HOME>01/03/04 - Dover, Portsmouth, Nashua
On Saturday, Sandy and I caught up with Senator Edwards at a Town Hall Meeting at a private home in Dover. The house was packed and we had the pleasure of meeting Mary Peterson who had come north to help out with some New Hampshire canvassing. As one might expect, she was cold, but that didn't dampen her spirits.

Senator Edwards is growing stronger with each event and Sandy and I were again impressed. The next Town Hall Meeting at a private home in Portsmouth was even bigger. Sandy and I literally gasped when we saw the long lines of cars parked on both sides of the road. Again, the Senator was hot! It was just a prelude to his speech in Nashua on the steps of City Hall, where John F. Kennedy, officially launched his Presidential bid in 1960.

A crowd begins to gather.

The Senator arrives and is greeted in a crowded foyer with the flashes of numerous cameras.

Spontaneous laughter.
After the meeting in Dover, another meeting in Portsmouth.

Our next stop in Portsmouth as we drove by looking for a place to park. The van to the right is the Edwards' family transportation today and they've already arrived.

Parking waaaaaay down the street and a long walk.

The stump speech. Emma Claire's in the kitchen asking for her Daddy.

I am so ready for this fight!

After the questions - Mike and Jennifer in the driveway.

Megan heading out. The kids are in the van. John and Elizabeth Edwards, behind Megan, are not quite ready to leave.
And on to the steps of City Hall in Nashua, New Hampshire.

In Nashua, on the steps of City Hall where John F. Kennedy delivered his first official campaign speech in 1960. Kennedy bust to the left, visible over camera. Kinsey and Pauly are leading the crowd in some Edwards cheers.

The Senator is arriving.

U.S. Senator John Edwards is introduced by New Hampshire State Senator Joe Foster.

John Edwards begins to speak. John Kennedy understood that cynics didn't build America. Optimists built America.

We're also going to talk about an issue that you haven't heard a lot about from Presidential candidates this cycle, which is the issue of poverty.

In fact, we're going to lift up those millions of people. We're going to give them a chance to do what they're capable of doing.

We're going to give you back the power in your Democracy.

State Senator Lou D'Allesandro, Elizabeth Edwards, NH State Rep.

I helped write the Patients Bill of Rights. I got it passed on the Senate Floor.

I am so ready for this fight. I have been preparing for this fight my entire life.
