Our initial homemade sign, snapped in two by the wind, was replaced on December 21, 2003. It's constructed like a sandwich with a skeleton of 2x4s. The old sign was used as one of the slices. It sits on a 2x4 nailed to the tree (not very pretty) and is held against the tree by two cables held taught by two stainless turnbuckles. It's braced against the wind by additional 2x4s nailed to the skeleton and the tree. The foam board is attached with roofing nails and washers at 12" intervals. Thanks to Jay and Wade for getting our new 4x8 sign to us!
 

Taking a break... The sign has been hoisted to rest on the 2x4 nailed to the tree and is held loosely in place by wire cables.
