As some of you may know, a group of foreign language teachers (representing grades k through 16) from different parts of the state worked hard last spring to create our New Hampshire Foreign Language Frameworks document. Based closely on the National Foreign Language Standards and the Articulation and Achievement project sponsored by The College Board, the Frameworks also include learning scenarios submitted by teachers from New Hampshire. We are all very, very proud of this document, the only one we know of which was written entirely by teachers from the elementary through college levels! The idea for creating the Frameworks came from Janis Hennessy, President of NHAWLT. Janis devoted an incredible amount of time and energy to this project, and kept each group on schedule so that our deadline for publication was met. If you didn't hear our panel discussion of the various aspects of the Frameworks at last fall's NHAWLT conference, you really missed an exciting and enthusiastic presentation! You should make sure that your school district orders a copy of the Frameworks for each school. Please contact Janis at Dover High School (742-3176), at home (749-1520), or by email (janis.hennessy@dover.k12.nh.us) if you'd like to order a copy for yourself or your school. You'll be impressed. index.html
