TICKETS:
Two
tickets are allocated to each participating student. They are $10.00 each. See
Dennis Wrenn to obtain tickets on Tuesday, March 23 and Wednesday, April 28.
After each student gets his/her allocated tickets, the extras will go on sale.
Remember that there are TWO concerts: Chorus and Jazz Ensemble at 2:00pm and
Orchestra and Band at 4:00pm. Dennis has individual tickets for each concert,
plus combined concerts.

From
Northern Worcester County:
Take Route 2 East through Gardner,
Fitchburg/Leominster, Shirley and Devens. Continue on Route 2 east... you will
see the sign "Entering Harvard" at the Oxbow National Wildlife
Refuge. Once in Harvard, take Exit 38A which is Route 110 West /Route 111
South. The exit will be marked "110-111 Harvard Clinton or
Worcester". Proceed south on 110/111 until you come to a flashing red
light and a single store known as The General Store. This is the center of
Harvard. Proceed straight across the intersection, after stopping, and you will
immediately pass a cemetery on the right. The driveway to The Bromfield School
is the immediate next right after the cemetery. The Cronin Auditorium is at the
far end of the building.
From Southern and Western Worcester County:
Take
Interstate 90 - The Massachusetts Turnpike, and travel East past Sturbridge to
Exit 10, which is Interstate 290 in Auburn. Stay on Interstate 290 North/East
through Worcester and follow it all the way to the end at Interstate 495 in
Marlborough. Go north on Interstate 495
in Marlborough. Continue North on 495 through Bolton and then take Exit
28, Route 111 Harvard/Boxborough, off. When you get to the end of the exit,
turn RIGHT, proceeding NORTH up Route 111. You will see a sign saying
"Entering Harvard". Continue 2.5 miles north on Route 111...the road
will take a sharp right, and you will see the Harvard Elementary School
immediately to the right and the old Bromfield School academy building directly
across the street from it. Proceed a short way up past a soccer field. The
driveway to the newer building of The Bromfield School will be on the left. The
Cronin Auditorium is at the far end of the building.

refers to the ensemble director, not the director of Music. Please list all

A student absent on the day of the
audition will not be considered. Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory!!!
Only severe illness or serious family emergency will be considered. Legitimacy
will be determined by the Concert Chairperson.

Instrumentalists may double audition
for Jazz and Chorus/Band/Orchestra.
They must pay a fee for both
auditions.
(Multiple percussionists pay only

SUBSTITUTIONS
AND ADDITIONS:
Substitutions will be allowed on the
day of the audition, within the same ensemble. The substitute will pay
the full audition fee. There will be no refunds for no-shows.
Additions will be allowed on the day
of auditions, not to exceed the audition limitations. All additions will pay
the full fee. The total number of changes (additions and substitutions) shall
not exceed two (2) changes per school.

ADJUDICATION
FORMS:
This year’s adjudication forms are
only obtainable by downloading them off the Central District Website at
cdmmea.org. Contact Tom Reynolds (treynolds@monad.net) if you
have any questions about them.
SUPERVISION
AND TRANSPORTATION:
At least one adult supervisor shall
accompany students to the audition, as well as to (and during) rehearsals and
the performance. Directors must notify the Concert Chairperson as to the name
of the supervisor. Schools are responsible for providing transportation to and
from all District events.

PAMELA RODGERS:
Pamela
Rodgers, a native of Norwood, Massachusetts, is the Director of Choral
Activities and lead music teacher at Killingly High School in Danielson,
CT. She received her Master of Music in
Choral Conducting Degree from the University of Connecticut and her Bachelor of
Music Education with Choral Emphasis from Hartt School of Music. Ms. Rodgers’ choirs have performed all over
the Eastern United States and in Canada taking Superior ratings, including
awards for Overall Best Choir, Overall Best High School Choir and Sweepstakes
Choral Awards. Her jazz choir,
J.I.V.E., has placed highly at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival in Boston,
Mass. Her groups have performed 3 times
at Disney World in Orlando, Florida and she has toured Europe with choirs on
three separate occasions. Her students
have gone on to be music directors themselves, and one of her alumnae is
presently singing with the acclaimed professional men’s choir “Chanticleer.” Ms. Rodgers is an active member of MENC,
CMEA, NEMFA, and ACDA and has managed a number of high school honor choirs,
including the Eastern Connecticut Regional Choir, the New England Festival
Chorus, and two ACDA Eastern USA Division High School Honor Choirs.

Sandra Kerr is in her fifth year as Choral Director at Sutton Middle School and High School. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. While at the University, Ms. Kerr studied voice with Jon Humphrey and Rodney Gisick, piano with Estella Olevsky, and choral technique and conducting with Dr. Wayne Abercrombie. As a music instructor in Sutton, Ms. Kerr enjoys teaching general music in the MIDI technology lab and conducts three choral ensembles which are consistently recognized with silver and gold ratings. Ms. Kerr remains active professionally. She is the Associate Director of the Post Road Show Chorus and actively performs a cappella music throughout New England. As a member of ACDA and the Massachusetts Music Educators Association, she has served as an adjudicator and choral manager.

ENSEMBLE CONDUCTOR:

MURPHY:
George Murphy
is currently the Foxboro High School Assistant Band Director, and the 5th
and 8th grade band director at the John J. Ahern Middle School. He was formerly the Music Coordinator of
the Old Rochester Regional H.S./Junior H.S., and Director of Brass Studies in
Revere. As a student at the University
of Lowell, and Berklee College of music, he received his BA and BMED degrees.
Mr. Murphy has studied trombone with John Coffey, Ron Baron, Phil Wilson, Hal
Crook and Bill Watrous.
Mr.
Murphy conducts the FHS Symphonic Winds, Eighth Grade Concert Band, the Fifth
Grade Concert Band, the FHS Concert and Marching Bands, the Foxboro Junior Jazz
Band and is actively involved in the FHS Jazz Ensembles. His ensembles have won numerous awards while
performing throughout the New England area.
The Foxboro Junior Jazz Band has been featured, with Mr. Murphy as
clinician, at the MENC Massachusetts State Convention, and premiered an
original composition by Tiger Okoshi in 1999.
A clinician, adjudicator, guest artist, and
guest conductor at several festivals through out the Northeast, Mr. Murphy was
a recipient of Downbeat Magazine’s
Achievement Award for Jazz Education.
For 14 years, he was director of the Foxboro Summer Music programs and
taught at the University of New Hampshire Summer Youth Music School
(SYMS). Today he is Co-Director of the
Foxboro Summer Improvisation Camp, and is active in the Boston music scene as a
trombonist. In addition to leading his own band, he has performed with some of
the most outstanding musicians and bands in the area. George Murphy is a member
of the MENC, MICA and the IAJE board where he served as Southeast District
Chairman for 14 years, and is currently the Coordinator of the School Clinician
Outreach Program which he created. Mr.
Murphy has been in Foxboro for 17 years.

BEACHAM:
Graybert Beacham has been an active orchestral and chamber
music performer throughout the United States and Mexico. He holds Bachelor's
and Master's Degrees in Performance
from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was the recipient of the Dr.
Jerome Gross Prize in Violin. Major teachers include David Cerone, Bernhard
Goldschmidt, and Emanuel Borok. He has studied chamber music with members of
the LaSalle and Guarneri String Quartets. Conducting Studies have been with
Kenneth Kiesler at the "Conductors Retreat at Medomak," Lawrence
Golan, and Max Bragado-Darman.
Mr. Beacham is currently
Adjunct Lecturer in Music and a member of the Applied Faculty, teaching violin
and viola at the University of Maine at Farmington. He is also conductor for
the University of Maine at Farmington Community Orchestra.
He is the Director of
String Studies for the newly formed Emery Community Arts Center String Program.
Graybert performs with the Nordica Trio, Portland Symphony, serves as
Concertmaster for the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, and performs occasionally
with Opera Boston (formerly the Boston Academy of Music) as Principal Violist.
ORCHESTRA MANAGER:
Chris LeDoux teaches string instruments and orchestra
in the Quabbin Regional School District, working with grades 3-8. She also
maintains a private studio of violin and viola students. Ms. LeDoux is
currently enrolled in the Master of Music Summer Program at the University of
Connecticut. She received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Boston
University, where she studied violin with Yuri Mazurkevich. She has taught at
the American String Teacher’s Association with the National School Orchestra
Association Summer String Conferences in Maine and Massachusetts. In addition
to teaching, Ms. LeDoux is an active performer, playing both violin and viola
(but not at the same time) with the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, the
string trio Scylla, as well as free-lancing across New England.

PETER TILESTON:
Peter G. Tileston is currently the music director of
the King Philip Regional School District in Wrentham, Massachusetts. He has held that position for over twenty
years. In that time his groups have
received local, state, regional, as well as national recognition. Possessing a Bachelor of Music Education
from the University of New Hampshire, Mr. Tileston has also earned a Masters in
School Administration from Cambridge College.
During his tenure at King Philip the symphonic band has consistently
earned gold medal ratings at the Massachusetts Instrumental & Choral
Conductors Association(MICCA) annual Concert festival over the past decade and
a half. The King Philip Jazz Ensemble
under his direction was an Essentially Ellington Finalist in 2002, and a gold
medalist in IAJE State Finals numerous times.
The King Philip Marching Band has also achieved national recognition
having placed third in the Bands of America National Championships in
Indianapolis in Class AA in 2000.
Mr. Tileston has served as president of MICCA for
seven years. While serving as
past-president he helped create and develop the Stars @ Symphony project now in
its sixth year. In cooperation with the
Boston Symphony Orchestra, Stars @ Symphony offers students of gold medal
groups the chance to perform at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood’s Ozawa Hall. King Philip’s symphonic band has performed
at Symphony Hall each of the five years of the project.
Mr. Tileston has received the Massachusetts Music
Educators Association Lowell Mason Award in 1996. He was selected to the MICCA Paul Smith Hall of Fame in
1998. In 2002, Mr. Tileston was
selected by SBO (School Band & Orchestra) magazine to be the Massachusetts
representative as one of fifty band directors that make a difference. In 2003,
Mr. Tileston received the Champion Educator for Music from the
Massachusetts Alliance for Arts Education.
Mr. Tileston has guest conducted the Central District Jazz Ensemble as
well as the Lions’ All-State Jazz Band and the Lowell Summer Band Camp.
